Some interesting information:
The Empire Aristocrat was made by the British Typewriter Company of Queen Street, West Bromwich, outside Birmingham, England, under a 1935 license from E.Paillard and Company of Yverdon, Switzerland The Empire Aristocrat being made from the design for the Hermes Featherweight.
Of the British Empire typewriters, the Empire Aristocrat portable (Hermes Baby) is by far the best known and most readily available. Typewriters in this range, which date from the mid-1930s through to possibly as late as the early-1960s, are certainly quite common in this country. (Credit given to Oz.Typewriter)
